TNT Renews Falling Skies for Season 2
Whether you love it, loathe it, or remain completely indifferent about it, TNT's Falling Skies will be back for a second season. The show has been a ratings beast for the network that until recently focused mainly on female-centric power programs, and is bringing in the coveted young male viewer—all in addition to being a big hit overseas, where people aren't as jaded and cynical. According to TNT, the series has averaged more than 6.4 million viewers since its premiere last month.Falling Skies is also one of the more divisive series in recent TV history, with audience split between fans and haters. It's also getting a lot of talk here on TV.com, and has ranked among our top three most popular shows for a few weeks now. I admit that it has its problems, but as far as summer programming goes, it could be a lot worse. And who can hate Noah Wyle? He's so... everyman!
The second season of Falling Skies is due to air in the summer of 2012 and will run for 10 episodes. The show is currently airing its first season on Sunday nights on TNT... so I guess we now know that Tom and company won't be killing the aliens off this season.
